Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How old do you have to be to climb?
A: We recommend that climbers be around 5 years old or older before trying Maple City Climbing, though this may vary depending on the child’s confidence, focus, and physical ability. Bouldering may not be suitable for very young children, as the climbing style involves falling onto padded flooring from lower heights without ropes.
Q: What do I need to climb?
A: We recommend that climbers wear comfortable clothing that you can move freely in.
Q: Do I need climbing shoes?
A: No, we offer rental climbing shoes at the front desk, while we recommend climbing shoes we also understand you might feel more comfortable in your own shoes, in this case we recommend a CLEAN pair of tight fitting running with good grip as an alternative. Please remember to bring a clean pair of shoes to wear inside the gym if you intend on removing your climbing shoes as we have a no bare feet policy
Q: How hard are the climbs?
A: Our climbs are marked with coloured pieces of tape that correspond to a range of V-Grades, but we aim to set climbs for all ages and capabilities.
Q: Who has to sign a waiver?
A: For the safety of all guests, we ask that everyone entering the climbing area must complete a waiver, whether they plan to climb or not.
Minors under 18 must also have their waiver filled out and signed by a parent or court-appointed guardian. You cannot sign a waiver for a child that is not yours - no exceptions! Participants without a valid waiver will not be able to enter the climbing area, even if they are just watching. Link for Waivers.
